“11th TOPCIT Philippines”



The 11th TOPCIT Philippines examination was held on November 20, 2024, at Gordon College, where the GCCCS participants took the exam using the school's computers. The exam was conducted via Zoom, with several students from different universities joining. Through the Zoom session, we were able to see and be seen by other students as they completed the exam in their respective schools. The test assessed general competencies in the Test of Practical Competency in IT (TOPCIT), evaluating practical IT knowledge and skills essential for industry readiness.



Participating in the 11th TOPCIT Philippines examination on November 20, 2024, was a fulfilling and enlightening experience that underscored the importance of practical IT abilities for industry readiness. The exam, held at Gordon College, utilized the school’s computers and connected participants from various universities through Zoom. Seeing students from different schools actively involved in the exam created a sense of camaraderie and highlighted our collective commitment to excellence in IT education.

                The exam tested our ability to apply IT concepts in practical situations, including coding, system analysis, and troubleshooting, encouraging us to think critically and solve problems within time limits. It assessed not only our knowledge but also our ability to adapt and perform under pressure, reinforcing the need for practical experience alongside theoretical learning.

                Preparing for the exam took weeks of preparation. While it was challenging, it proved to be a valuable measure of our capabilities and highlighted areas for improvement. It also served as a motivating factor for us to keep learning, recognizing that the rapidly changing IT industry demands ongoing education to stay current.

Attending the examination/seminar provided valuable knowledge that can be applied in real-world scenarios, especially in the context of my IT studies and future career. One key takeaway was the importance of staying updated with current IT trends, as technology evolves rapidly, and practical skills are crucial for industry success. The focus on hands-on problem-solving, such as coding, system analysis, and troubleshooting, made me realize the significance of applying theoretical knowledge to real-life situations. I plan to incorporate this by working on more practical projects and challenges that mirror industry tasks.


While the event had a smooth orientation process, future activities could benefit from additional time for participants to familiarize themselves with the platform and the test format. Expanding technical support to be more readily available during the event can also address any unexpected connectivity issues.

This assembly is designed to offer various competitions and challenges, promoting skill-building and knowledge-sharing opportunities for IT students and professionals throughout the region.
