"Company Visit: Planate Management Group"
On April 14, 2025, we had the privilege of visiting Planate Management Group at their office in Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA). As part of our exposure to industry practices, this visit offered a great opportunity to learn about the company’s operations and witness firsthand how various departments work together to provide cutting-edge solutions.
Although our visit didn’t start as smoothly as expected—due to a temporary power outage—the experience turned out to be both insightful and rewarding. We were able to push through the hiccups and still had an enriching session with the team. The visit began with a presentation from Planate’s Robotics Team, who shared their personal experiences working on robotics projects. They walked us through the challenges and innovations they've encountered while working on automated systems. This was particularly interesting, as I’m working on robotics-related projects myself, and the insights into their work were directly applicable.
The second presentation was from the IT Team, which gave us a deep dive into their development of web applications and software solutions. It was fascinating to learn that Planate leverages Microsoft services like Azure and GoDaddy for their cloud-based needs. Their approach to development was not only aligned with industry standards but also introduced me to tools that could be incredibly useful for my own projects in the future.
Finally, once the power was restored, we were able to witness one of Planate’s robotic systems in action. The robotic arm showcased its ability to segregate parcels based on printed labels, an incredible example of how automation is used to streamline operations. Seeing this technology in motion further cemented my understanding of the practical applications of robotics in various industries.
The knowledge shared during our visit to Planate Management Group opened up many practical possibilities for future projects. For instance, the robotics team’s work on automating sorting tasks gave me a clearer understanding of how automation can be applied in various domains, such as my ongoing fruit-picking robot project. The idea of using vision systems for identifying and sorting objects is something I’m now eager to explore further.
The IT Team’s presentation on cloud services also resonated with me. Their use of Microsoft Azure for scalability and GoDaddy for hosting could serve as the foundation for future apps or systems I work on, especially for my MedQ app. The ability to integrate cloud solutions to improve performance and handle increasing demands is something I plan to implement in my projects. Overall, the visit showed me how technology—whether through robotics or cloud services—can be applied to solve real-world challenges efficiently, and I look forward to experimenting with these insights in my academic and future professional work. The event was well-organized and truly enjoyable. The team at Planate Management Group was not only professional but also accommodating and friendly. From the moment we arrived, they made sure we felt welcome and comfortable. Their willingness to engage in discussions and share insights made the visit even more memorable. It was clear that they are passionate about the work they do and take great pride in their operations. Their hospitality made the entire experience a lot more engaging, and I can honestly say it was a pleasure to interact with them.
As for suggestions for improvements, I can honestly say I have none at this time. The visit was well-organized and informative. From the presentations to the live demonstrations, everything ran smoothly, and the team’s hospitality was outstanding. There was nothing about the experience that I felt needed improvement, which speaks to the effectiveness of their event organization. Visiting Planate Management Group was a truly enriching experience. Not only did it give us an inside look at the innovative work happening in the fields of robotics and IT, but it also offered practical insights that I can apply in my own projects moving forward. I look forward to future opportunities to learn from such inspiring companies.
