“GCCCS TECHFEST 2025”
Last February 22, 2025, the College of Computing Studies (CCS) made history by hosting its very first large-scale collaborative seminar—TECHFEST 2025. Spearheaded by the 4th-year students from Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), and Entertainment and Multimedia Computing (EMC) programs, the event brought together tech enthusiasts, gamers, creatives, and future innovators under one exciting roof.
🔊 A Blend of Learning and Fun
TECHFEST wasn’t just your typical seminar. While we had amazing speakers who talked about emerging technologies, AI trends, cybersecurity, and tech entrepreneurship, the event went beyond the usual format. It was designed to be interactive and inclusive, giving students the chance to explore, connect, and showcase their skills.
The seminar stage was filled with insightful talks, but right outside were booths buzzing with energy. From gaming zones like Tekken and Valorant, to custom keychain makers, tech project displays, and even food stalls—there was something for everyone. It was like a mini tech carnival within our campus!
🕹️ Esports and Events Galore
One of the highlights was the Valorant Tournament, organized by our dedicated student committee. The matches were held before the main event to ease the schedule on D-Day, with the winners awarded on stage during TECHFEST. Setting up brackets, calling out players, and coordinating schedules wasn’t easy—especially while juggling OJT and academics—but it was all worth it in the end.
💻 Behind the Scenes: Technical Excellence
I had the chance to be part of the Technical Committee, and I have to say—it was a rewarding experience. From setting up the AV systems to making sure the program ran smoothly, everything was handled efficiently. It felt good to contribute something I’m confident in, and the teamwork among the committees made everything run like clockwork.
🌱 Lessons and Takeaways
One of the most valuable parts of the seminar was the practical insights shared by the speakers. They emphasized the importance of starting early—whether it’s building projects, learning new tools, or exploring tech communities. It was a reminder that we don’t need to wait for graduation to apply what we know; we can start now.
The event also showed how interdisciplinary collaboration can lead to great outcomes. Just like in the real world, success isn’t just about tech—it’s about communication, creativity, and coordination.
👍 What Went Well
As a first-time major seminar for CCS, TECHFEST 2025 was a huge success. The booths were engaging, the technical side ran smoothly, the program was well-paced, and the teamwork among the organizers was truly impressive. The event brought life and energy to our department, and it’s something we can all be proud of.
🔧 Room for Growth
That said, every first-time event has its learning curves. Better time management, earlier promotions, and more streamlined registration systems could make future TECHFESTs even better. Having more volunteers for booth assistance and introducing workshops or hands-on sessions could also take the experience to the next level.
💬 Final Thoughts
TECHFEST 2025 wasn’t just an event—it was an experience. It gave us a platform to learn, showcase, connect, and most importantly, grow. We proved to ourselves and our college that with enough passion and teamwork, we can pull off something truly amazing.
Here’s to more techfests in the future! 🚀
